Nineteen EU-funded projects completed in South-West Oltenia between 2008 and 2024 by Asociația Mereu pentru Europa, the organisation hosting EUROPE DIRECT Craiova. All figures below are reported project results.

Education and school-to-work transition

  • COMPETITIV (2018–2020, ESF, SMIS 109272) — 550 secondary and university students counselled, with work placements in Romania and Portugal. Partners: University of Craiova, Professional Consulting.
  • TRAVAIL (2014–2015, ESF, SMIS 52056) — 400 pupils from 10 schools in Dolj, 100 of them in work placements. Partner: Dolj County School Inspectorate.
  • PRACTIC (2020–2022, ESF, SMIS 130606) — 185 students from technical high schools. Partner: Conversas Versáteis, Portugal.
  • STAR (2020–2022, ESF, SMIS 130515) — 185 students of the Christiana post-secondary health school in Craiova.
  • TRANSEL (2014–2015, ESF) — 400 pupils in Gorj County. Partner role.
  • SuperȘcoala (2018–2021, ESF, SMIS 106595) — 320 school managers and teachers trained, 256 certified, 8 methodologies developed.

Adult training, employment and entrepreneurship

  • PERFORMER (2021–2023, ESF, SMIS 135484, ~995,000 EUR) — 665 employees in the target group, 535 certified, 385 with secured employment, plus placements in Italy.
  • PROFEM (2014–2015, ESF, SMIS 49350, ~500,000 EUR) — 490 women: 440 trained, 300 qualified, 50 supported in starting a business, 4 local support centres.
  • AFRO (2015, ESF, ~2,025,000 EUR) — 400 people trained in entrepreneurship, 40 businesses created, 80 jobs, 125 business plans. Partner role.
  • REPAN (2010–2012, ESF, SMIS 77029) — 200 unemployed people in Dolj and Olt counties, 80 trained, 12 self-employment starts.
  • ANSI (2010–2012, ESF, SMIS 77032) — the same structure in Gorj and Mehedinți counties.

Public health

ROCCAS 2 (2020–2023, ESF, SMIS 136442, ~24 million RON) — regional colorectal cancer screening led by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova, with our association as communication and community mobilisation partner. Results: 60,000 people informed, 51,400 mobilised, 48,620 preventive consultations, 2,183 colonoscopies. At least 60% of participants came from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Cross-border cooperation with Bulgaria

  • CREATWIN (2017–2019, ERDF, 818,735 EUR) — 22,758 people reached with joint employment initiatives, 220 trained in cultural and creative industries, 120 with cross-border mobility experience.
  • GREEN SCHOOL (2016–2017, ERDF, 693,905 EUR) — a tourist information centre established in Craiova, 20 trilingual educational films, 20 heritage analyses.
  • SEE AND GO (2018–2020, ERDF, 497,666 EUR) — a smart tourism application for the Dolj, Olt, Mehedinți, Montana, Vratsa and Vidin area. Lead beneficiary.
  • Legendele (2018–2020, ERDF, 499,165 EUR) — local legends used as a tourism promotion instrument. Lead beneficiary.

Environment and community development

  • Ciuperceni-Desa (2012–2014, ERDF, 775,000 EUR) — management plan and awareness campaign for a Natura 2000 protected area in southern Dolj. Lead beneficiary.
  • DELICOM (2014–2015, EEA and Norway Grants NGO Fund) — three interethnic rural communities in Dolj: 3 local NGOs established, 3 local development strategies, 34 people trained.
  • Technical Secretariat of the South-West Oltenia Territorial Pact (2008–2011, ESF, SMIS 1560) — regional coordination of employment and social inclusion policy.
